A Tale of Two Diapers
Check out this eye-opening article about the history of disposable diapers. I was surprised to learn that it was not the introduction of sposies & their convenience that led to their popularity. Instead Proctor & Gamble (manufacturers of Pampers & Luvs) conducted a deceptive study and subsequent advertising blitz in the early 1990's that fooled the public into thinking they were actually better for the environment than cloth.

thoughts on motherhood
It is a good thing that mothers have such a deep love for their babies.
Because motherhood is REALLY HARD!!! One would only take on such an arduous task for a person that they loved that much.
Anyway, I haven't been posting much, but here's what's been going on in my life: I am taking one class again at CSUN and it is really hard. I am constantly reading theatre theory and writing and researching and it is very time-consuming. I am enjoying it, but it is a whole heck of a lot of work. I am also directing the Christmas show again at church. We are doing The Best Christmas Pageant Ever by Barbara Robinson. It is chaos with a lot of kids. I am enjoying it, and being as that seems to be the only theatre I actually do these days, I am relishing every moment.
I do get an occasional moment to try to follow the presidential campaigns or to hang out with friends and family. Peer is eating more solids now so that is fun and oh so messy. I need to find a good diaper sprayer because his poopies are changing and soon I won't be able to simply wash them away in the laundry anymore! I'm sure that is TMI, but I'm a mom now so that gives me the right to talk about poop. I am still breastfeeding and enjoying the changes in that relationship as Peer gets older. I hope to be nursing him for some time still. Although I am pumping again now and more than ever. My supply is different because he's older and what I'm able to pump at school is not equal to the amount he drinks while I'm gone. So I have to pump several times during the week. Yuck. Oh, and then I have the occasional moment of idiocy like last week when I forgot to put my pumped milk in the fridge until the next morning! I cried when I realized I had to dump a whole bottle of milk. =( But I managed to replace it soon enough.
It is the bain of my existence that I have a stack of magazines that I have no time to read. sigh. Oh, and also Philippa Gregory's new book. =( January is gonna rock with reading. haha.
That is it. I'm hoping someday I will have a yoga class and a mom's group to add to the mix, but I'm probably too busy right now anyway! Soon I will start working on my grad asst job booking a children's theatre show at elem schools in the Valley. In the words of my dept chair, "it sounds easy but it will probably drive you crazy."

Fun with Friends
Peer is a big fan of glasses in general. If you've got them on, don't expect it to stay that way for long. Here he is with our friend Ben.
Peer is all boy and absolutely lives for playtime. It's hard to get him to stop. Here he is with our friend David. I think Peer's going to be a fan of rollar coasters when he grows up because he seems to be a thrill-seeker.
Oh, another playtime story: Andy thinks it's real funny to play the "slap daddy" game with Peer. (PJ loves it too) He'll hold Peer's hands and slap Daddy's face with them and Andy acts like Peer just beat him up. Peer laughs and laughs. Well, tonight Peer was having some trouble falling asleep and he sat up in bed and crawled over to Andy and with a big smile on his face slapped Daddy right across the mouth. Hm.
