I'm a Tante!

My sister had her baby yesterday! Rylee Angelica was born at 7:25 pm weighing in at 6 lbs 12 oz and measuring 19 3/4 inches long. She was born via c-section so there will be quite a bit of recovery to do. But otherwise, mom and baby are doing great. Baby is latching on and nursing well. We praise God for His faithfulness and for bringing this sweet new person into our lives!

oh by the way...

For those of you who have been wondering about my acting career (I do getting people asking me about that now and then... how nice), I got the opportunity a few weeks ago to go on an audition for The Last Night of Ballyhoo. I was also called back, so technically it was two auditions. It was really great to do some work again and it got me fantasizing how possible it would be to actually do a show. I am so glad to have gotten the opportunity-- my sister and my mom came with me to the audition and entertained PJ while I was in the room. Having PJ there actually got me some attention from everyone, which was cool, especially from the CD who has a toddler at home. So that was good! I'm keeping my eyes peeled for a show that could possibly fit our situation. When the time is right, I know the right thing will come along!

Going Organic...

So when PJ was seven months we made our first attempts to start him on solids. (he's still rejecting them, by the way) At that time I decided I wanted to make my own baby food and I also decided that I want him to be 100% organic. This is not a luxury I can afford for myself, but I do try to buy at least the "dirtiest" produce organic. It's getting really expensive! But I've really been enjoying the peace of mind I feel in making healthier choices for my family. I guess since I have been a SAHM I feel a stronger sense of obligation when it comes to nutrition. I still cut a few corners here and there (I'm sticking with the pre-shredded cheese regardless of the darned mold inhibitors!), but now that PJ is a little older and I am more experienced, putting together dinners has gotten a tad easier. He's warming up to being worn on my back while I cook (he used to hate it) and other times he's content with playing on the floor a few feet away from me. Now we're considering keeping him vegetarian until he's an older toddler in order to establish some good eating habits. Andy says he'd feel like a hypocrite if we didn't do the same. I said that's fine with me, but we'll see...

Meanwhile I've been making all kinds of fun baby food and PJ will have none of it. He even rejected the organic Cheerios. But they do make fun toys to throw on the ground!

My First Mother's Day

Look at Me! I'm a Card-Maker!

It may be early, but I already had to book the park for Peer's birthday party. So I figured I might as well get going on the whole thing. I really wanted to make the invitations myself, so I'm giving it a stab. I always admired my mom's friend Robin and how well she makes cards. Since I've honed my scrapbooking skills in the last few years, I figure I might be able to do it. Here is my prototype:

The things that are printed on white paper will not be. What color do you think they should be? Yellow? Light blue?
